Cross browser compatibility

There was once a time when Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (IE) was so dominant on the market ensuring that your site worked in the more ‘obscure’ browsers was hardly worth the trouble.
This is no longer the case as the graph from StatCenter for 2011 proves, as Firefox overtakes IE share in the EU:

Apple, Google and Mozilla have established their respective browsers (Safari, Chrome and Firefox) as major players in the browser market and in some markets their combined share is greater than IE. Moreover with the explosion of small format devices (e.g. smart phones) based on other browsers (e.g. Opera) the need for your website to become a browser ‘Chameleon’ is paramount.
